"Planetary" Wraps Today

The series that is arguably my all time favorite ends today after a two-year hiatus. Planetary #27 sees the comic that is, on the surface, the secret history of the Wildstorm universe but is actually the history of the super hero and masked crime fighter genre, come to a close. I've been talking a lot lately about this series coming to an end. That's because the series is good. Beyond good. It's one of those series that you hard core comic fans should have started reading years ago and one of the comics that folks dipping their toes into the comic pool should familiarize themselves with. This is a series that ruins you to other series. It's that good. And now it's over.

Writer and creator Warren Ellis offers some insight into the book ending and the read should be especially of note to writers as Ellis associates the work of wonder with surprisingly bad times in his life. Any writer who has ever gone through old stuff knows the feeling of rushed memories flooding back as you some times (but not always) remember exactly what was happening in that strange moment in time. You can read Ellis' thoughts here.
